Chilcuague is a plant endemic to Mexico and has been used for medicinal and culinary purposes. It is also known as the “golden root.” In 2018, research was conducted to demonstrate that it promotes the generation of new blood vessels.

It grows spontaneously in 18 communities in the northern region of Guanajuato and is used as a local anesthetic and analgesic, as well as an antibiotic for infections of the digestive and respiratory systems. Its root has many healing properties that help the immune system.

It is generally used as an anesthetic, local analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, diuretic, and also for infections of the digestive and respiratory systems.
